TRANSFORM YOUR BEDROOM ON A BUDGET

Image
For many of us, our bedroom is our sanctuary and the personal, designated hideaway of our home, and so it only makes sense to curate a design that elicits peace and joy. If your style has changed over the years and your bedrooms don't reflect this, or you're looking to give your bedrooms a makeover before selling your home and moving on, here are some cheap and easy ways to transform the space…   Give Furniture A Second Chance   Previously owned furniture is a budget-safe way to get creative and give your room a serious design lift. Whether you’re planning on replacing all of your furniture, or you’re looking for a statement piece, second-hand shopping is the way to go. Scour the local charity shops or the online resale marketplace until you find a bargain beauty to spruce up and make your own – you’ll be surprised by what people let go of these days. Switch Out The Bedding   Tackling the bedding is a great place to start as no matter the size of your bed, it is usually the c

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE UK PROPERTY MARKET? MARCH 2023

House prices rose in March, buy-to-let mortgage choices are recovering, and there’s welcome news for homeowners in the Chancellor’s Spring Budget. Read on to find out the latest property news! House Prices on the Rise Again Figures released by Rightmove show that average property prices have increased in March as the housing market continues to defy predictions that it’s heading for a slump. Prices rose by 0.8% across the country in March, only a little less than the typical 1% increase seen at this time of year for the past two decades. The rise takes the average asking price of a property to £365,357 – an increase of nearly £3,000 on the previous month.  While spring is traditionally a buoyant time for the housing market, the increase is also partly down to a fall in mortgage rates in recent months, which soared to around 6% after the government’s mini-budget in September last year. With rates below 5% again, prices could rise modestly as we head towards summer. Buy-to-let Mortgage

As the promise of spring’s gentler winds and lighter evenings looms closer, many of us will be ready to welcome a few seasonal changes of our own.    Falling in love with a home is a wonderful feeling, but this love often reaches the end of its natural lifespan long before we think about moving again. Has your family outgrown the space, the décor? Have you started to long for a change of scenery? Is it simply time to move on? If you’ve asked yourself these questions already, your current home might not be ‘the one’ for you anymore.   Here are some telling signs that you have fallen out of love with your home…   The Family Has Grown Up   The memories and stories that our homes hold is part of what makes them so special, but it’s also important to make room for new memories. Your home may have been perfect when you first bought it, but with time, large homes can become too small; or as the last bird flees the nest, the home can become too large.   Whether the kids have outgrown their b

YOUR HANDY GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL SPRING CLEAN

Image
Spring is a time of transition and renewal, so it’s no surprise that most of us get the urge to freshen up our homes and have the place feeling like new again. If brighter evenings and upcoming bank holidays call for a thorough deep clean in your home, get the most out of your spring spruce-up by using our handy guide: Focus On High-Impact Jobs   One of the problems with cleaning is that there is never a finite list of jobs to do. So, unless you’re planning on spending your whole weekend scrubbing and dusting, you will need to put your time and effort into the tasks that really make a difference. A good spring clean will focus on the areas that need it the most, and then you can go back and focus on the smaller details later with regular top-ups – rather than trying to tackle everything at once.   Empty The Kitchen Cupboards   The kitchen is the busiest space in your home, so it will likely need a thorough reset come spring. Empty out every cupboard and get rid of anything that is pa
